Grace Park Signs On as Golf Digest Playing Editor

Posted on January 14, 2000

LPGA Rookie Grace Park has joined the roster of Golf Digest Playing Editors. Park will provide instructional articles to help players improve their golf games. Golf Digest, with a circulation of 1.55 million, is published by The New York Times Company Magazine Group, Inc., a subsidiary of The New York Times Company.

"We at Golf Digest and Golf Digest Woman are delighted to have Grace Park on our team, joining our elite group of Playing Editors," says Executive Editor Roger Schiffman. "Grace has dominated at every level of competition for which she's been eligible, and we expect her to be a dominant force on the LPGA Tour for years to come. The exclusive articles she writes for our magazines should appeal to all types of players, young and old, men and women, and should help them lower their scores."

In 1999, Park played in five LPGA Tour events, including the U.S. Women's Open, where she tied for eighth, posting an amateur record of 5-under-par 283; and The Safeway LPGA Golf Championship, where she finished second behind Juli Inkster. Playing for Arizona State University, Park captured the 1999 NCAA Division I individual title last May. She was the 1999 SBC Futures Tour Player of the Year, and her No. 1 rank on that tour's money list earned her automatic exemption for an LPGA Tour card. She turned professional in June.
